Alice Kell is an artist who resonates with the bohemian notion of 'art for art's sake' however her agenda is also motivated by politics, human rights and the aesthetic experience. She is currently examining a way of bringing together urban street art with traditional oil painting practices.
"I make transportable ‘graffiti’ canvases that are to be displayed in streets as well as galleries.
I think murals and street art can have a really positive, regenerative effect on areas and needn't have the adverse affects people judge it to have."
"I feel art should be understood by all, be accessible to all and should include an emotional experience rather than be confined to the esoteric language of the intellectually elite."
